Park Department
Playacres Park
Located at Madison and Sycamore Streets, Playacres Park consists of 12.8 acres with a mile-long paved walkway that meanders through the park, as well as several benches along the way to rest and enjoy the surrounding nature.
Playacres Park also features a large playground with a handicap-accessible area, benches for parents, and a small pavilion that makes a perfect spot for a picnic lunch. The handicap accessible area is enclosed by a fence, and the key to get in can be picked up at the Fairmount Police Department. There is no charge to use this area.
Playacres Park Tree Foundation
In 2007, the Playacres Park Tree Foundation was established with one thing in mind: to reforest the park by planting 100 trees in the park by the year 2010. Well over 100 new trees were planted in the park under this initiative. Each tree comes with a concrete plaque that can be used for a memorial for a loved one or in honor of a family name. For more information on the trees still available, contact the Clerk's Office at (765) 948-4632.
